About The Streets:
Streets of rogue is a rather chaotic and action-packed experience. This is a Rogue like and as such there are lots of characters (26), traits (60) and equipment (61) to unlock via earned currency from each run. Once everything is unlocked the persistent currency (Chicken Nuggets) can then be used to give yourself a starting set of equipment on any further runs. Each of the 26 pre-made characters play quite differently from each other. If that’s not enough the player can create their own custom characters and within certain limits give themselves the combination of starter traits and equipment they like. The game plays across 6 different areas within a city and each of those have their own rules for random map generation which represents different encounters and challenges in each area. There is also an optional mutator (among many) to enable full random maps. At a glance the game is simple. However, there are all sorts of underlying game systems which compliment each other and in the right circumstances can allow for rather unexpected and humorous situations. The split screen and online coop play for upto four players is a fantastic way to play. Playing with friends and combining different characters to do missions is great. The net-code for the online play tends to not be fully synchronised and positions of characters can be a bit off from each player but it still feels good to play. I bought Streets of Rogue years ago after I saw it on a sale and thought it looked neat, the game wasn’t super big so I decided to give it a chance, years later I finally publish a review and I can safely say that this is one of the most underrated games i’ve ever played
