About One Piece Millennium 3:
This game is very clunky and the controls are god awful. The customization is very limited and mainly takes from existing characters. In a fighting game type analysis, this is very unimpressive and not remotely balanced or competitive. The loading screens tilt me more than the clunky combat does. Over half of this game is loading, and this is on a top of the line PC. The gameplay just feels bad, and I am struggling to scrounge the effort to 100% this game. What they should have done is focused more on the single player story, dialogue, and characters instead of the weird competitive ranked focus, especially with how bad the actual fighting is. That being said, I am playing it through because I love the universe of OPM and the writing hasn’t been bad. It’s not a good game though. The game is over priced, the extra characters are paid dlc, the free roam and dialogue mechanics are a clunky mess to maneuver through, the art design ranges from uninspired to almost capturing season 2 quality animation and the combat is nothing special to write home about because you are mostly fighting the games original characters – which consists of these boring nobody monsters/villains for you to fight in most battles because it’s not like the game developers have an entire monster league from the manga to adapt from. Oh wait. This game actually reminds me of old ps2 games honestly. The graphics are better, but the lifeless overworld, still unnatual poses and very methodical and uninspired “go here, do that” don’t really feel up to snuff for what this game is supposed to be for the year it was released in. That being said, the fights are fun and the game really feels reminiscent of the anime. if you like games to chill out, have fun and not take too seriously, this is def worth adding to your library, just as long as you pick it up on sale.
